Disney World has already returned to “normal” in many ways, and today was just more proof of that.
Many hotels, restaurants, activities, and attractions have reopened throughout the Most Magical Place on Earth, and more reopenings are on the way. Today, another piece of Disney World became available again for fans to enjoy. “What happened?” you say? Well, Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort reopened today and we went to check it out! Why is this moment so huge? Well, it’s because for the very first time in over 2 years — we can officially say that every resort in Disney World is OPEN!
Arrival
On the main building you’ll find a GIANT star (an icon of all 3 All-Star Resorts, hence the all star name). If you drive right up to the giant star, you’ll find a covered area at the entrance to the hotel, which you can use to drop off your family and bags.
The main building is predominantly blue with lots of white stars on it, and you’ll see the All-Star Sports name near the back, with some more stars all around. Gosh, they really love their stars here don’t they?!
This back area is the bus stop pick-up spot for the hotel, so you’ll want to head here to grab a Disney bus to your favorite parks.
Alright, enough about the outside. Let’s go inside the hotel!
Like the other All-Star Resorts, the theming here is the typical LARGER THAN LIFE theming you’re used to seeing at Disney’s Value Resorts. You’ll find GIANT Coca-Cola cans, footballs and football helmets, tennis rackets, basketballs, and more!
Lobby & Main Building Area
In the main building, you’ll find the Resort’s lobby. You can come here to check in to your room or otherwise speak with the Cast Members when you need assistance. Much like the other All-Star Resorts (and some other Disney World hotels) the front desk here is now really a series of little desks (rather than one central, large one. You’ll find smaller desks spread out throughout one area of the space, with Cast Members stationed at each one.
Want to skip the front desk experience entirely? Remember that you can use Disney’s direct-to-room service by using Online Check-In.
In the lobby, you’ll find details and designs meant to evoke that sports theme that carries throughout the entire hotel. White stars abound on the blue background. Take a close look at the outlined designs near the check-in area to see how many sports you can identify! Also in the lobby you’ll find a small seating area for guests… .
When it comes to checking out of your hotel, remember that you can utilize Disney’s express checkout service. A new app-based check-out service is also being rolled out at select Disney World hotels. While it isn’t available at All-Star Sports just yet, we’ll be on the lookout for more updates. The front desk had balloons to celebrate the resort’s reopening, and there were signs welcoming guests back to the hotel.
Be sure to check out the hotel activities, too — there are loads of things to keep you entertained!
Closer to the back of the lobby/main building area, you’ll find the All-Star Sports Hall of Fame (similar to the Hall of Fame you’ll find at some of the other All-Star resorts).
Here, you can take a look at some of the monuments accomplishments of stellar athletes. Seriously, we wouldn’t blame you if you see these photos and suddenly feel inspired to take up beach volleyball or figure skating (similar to how some of us might feel after watching the Olympics — it just all looks so epic!!).
A nice feature of this area is that it has tons of natural light, making the whole space feel really bright. The main building isn’t just home to check-in desks though, it’s also got some food and shopping. Let’s tackle that now!
Dining and Shopping
In terms of food, the main dining option at All-Star Sports is its food court — the End Zone Food Court. The entire place is themed to…you guessed it, SPORTS! You’ll find all kinds of details throughout the space showcasing Disney characters like Pluto, Mickey, and more, all participating in sports activities.
This spot serves up breakfast, lunch, and dinner and has some of your more “standard” theme park fare. At breakfast, you can grab Mickey waffles, an omelet, a bagel sandwich, and some other items.
At lunch and dinner, you’ll find the same menu. Options include a cheeseburger, chicken strips, a more unique Pimento Bacon Cheeseburger, pizza…
…a salmon dinner, and other options.
All meal times also include kids meal options, and you’ll generally find a number of treats in the bakery, as well as some grab-and-go snacks, fresh fruits, and beverages. In terms of other dining/drink options, you can also head over to Grandstand Spirits, the pool bar. Here’ you’ll find some alcoholic beverages like margaritas and more.
In terms of shopping, All-Star Sports’ gift shop is located in the main building and is called Sport Goofy Gifts and Sundries. This is your go-to place for souvenirs and more while at the hotel. Here, you’ll find sports apparel, souvenirs themed to the hotel, and some classic Disney ears and other items. There are also some snacks and essential supplies (like first-aid related things).
Just keep in mind that the essential supplies and snacks here will cost you a premium, so you might want to stop by a grocery store or order items be delivered to the hotel from a local store instead!
Outdoor Areas & Pools
In terms of other pools, you’ll find 2 different pools at All-Star Sports. First, there’s the Surfboard Bay Pool, in the surfboard-themed area. Fun fact: the pool is actually a 242,471-gallon swimming pool! It’s got surfboards lining the area, and more! There’s also a kiddie pool nearby for the little ones.
In another part of the resort, you’ll find the Grand Slam Pool. This pool is actually shaped like a baseball diamond (appropriate!) and features Goofy standing on the pitchers mound! The sundeck is also themed to look like an outfield and there are GIANT baseball bats lining the whole pool area. Note that there are complimentary towels in the pool areas.
Guest Rooms & Surrounding Areas
In terms of guest rooms, the rooms generally sleep 4 adult guests. There are standard rooms, or preferred rooms. The preferred rooms are closer to Stadium Hall (the main building), as well as the shopping, dining, and transportation located near there. We’ll be sharing a FULL room tour soon, so stay tuned to that!
And that’s it for now from the reopening of All-Star Sports. We’ll be sure to share more details with you on all of Disney World’s hotels so check back with us for all the latest updates!
