Exterior refurbishment appears to be ongoing at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. Today, machines and workers can be seen in the Finding Nemo, Lion King, and Cars areas. The star of Cars himself, Lightning McQueen, is currently covered up with a tarp inside a plastic fence.
The Lion King Section
Exterior building work on The Lion King section of the Resort has caused the closing of the outdoor pathway.
The Finding Nemo Section
Nearby at the Big Blue Pool near the Finding Nemo section of the Resort, the outdoor walkway is closed.
As you can see, this is an extensive repainting project.
Construction workers appear to be painting the exterior of the building.
This portion of the building appears freshly painted.
Here you can see the outline of Nemo before it gets filled in with black paint.
The sketch motif is further reinforced by the look of the drawing paper against the blue background.
The Big Blue Pool
We recently reported that the Righteous Reef Playground and Cozy Cone Pool would temporarily close.
Multiple workers appeared to be refinishing the play structure.
Some areas are visibly discolored, such as the blue area underneath Squirt.
Workers sanded the structure presumably to prepare for repainting.
The Cars Land Section
Meanwhile, over at the Cars section of the Resort, one big star was nowhere to be seen!
Lightning McQueen sits typically next to Sally outside the Wheel Well Motor Court. Today, however, McQueen was covered with a tarp and sitting inside plastic fencing.
It is unclear why McQueen would be taking a break from the public eye at this time. Perhaps he needed to go to Ramone’s House of Body Art for a new coat of paint?
