When was the last time you visited Disney World?
Even if it was just last week or even yesterday, chances are Disney World has changed since you were there last! We have some exciting updates to share with you about new attractions and old favorites, along with some exciting restaurant news. So without further ado, let’s check out all the construction updates you might have missed in Disney World this week!
Magic Kingdom
TRON: Lightcycle Run
Things are moving along nicely over in Magic Kingdom, where the walkway under the canopy is getting a safety update with the addition of railings on either side.
It also appears as though more concrete walls are being installed throughout the ground-level of the ride.
We still don’t have an opening date or timeline for this attraction but stay tuned to the DFB newsletter for more information.

Walt Disney World Railroad
We spotted tracks on the ground over at Fantasyland Station!
Hopefully this means that crews are on track (get it?) to complete these refurbishments soon. But it will likely not reopen until Tron opens since construction hiders the path.
Plaza Ice Cream Parlor
There’s some work going on out in front of the Main Street Plaza Ice Cream Parlor. We noticed there were temporary walls and tarps installed overnight!
Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.
Over in Tomorrowland, there are some new construction walls up near Space Mountain too! We’re not sure what sort of work is going on here, but you can be sure we’ll keep an eye out for updates.
Tomorrowland Light & Power is closed off inside as well.
EPCOT
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
We had an extremely exciting update on this ride last week, when we found out that it will be opening up to guests on May 27th, 2022! Ahead of the opening, Cast Members have installed signs directing guests towards the attraction.
And, we got a sneak peek at the Cast Member costumes for this ride too.
Just a little over one month until this attraction opens to Disney World guests!

Connections Cafe and Eatery
The sign is UP over at Connections Eatery, bringing us one step closer to finally being able to check out EPCOT’s newest restaurant.
And, we spotted tables inside of Connections Eatery on a recent monorail trip too!
Connections Eatery (and its pal Connections Cafe) will be opening this spring, 2022.

Moana: Journey of Water
We’re seeing more and more structures taking shape over at this World Nature attraction, so it shouldn’t be long before we get an idea of just what it will look like.
Stay tuned to DFB as we continue to keep an eye on the progress of this attraction!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Toy Story Mania Gift Shop
Cast Members are still directing guests to a different exit pathway due to the construction at the Toy Story Mania Gift Shop.
For now, we’ll have to wonder what might be taking its place…
…could it be the future home of Jessie’s Trading Post? Disney has yet to confirm anything!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Expedition Everest
After more than three months, we are finally going to be able to ride this mountain of an attraction once again! Disney shared that Expedition Everest reopened THIS SATURDAY, April 16th, 2022.
We can’t wait to experience this attraction again!
Restaurantosaurus
The barriers are still up over on the ramp at this DinoLand U.S.A. restaurant. Guests are still able to dine on the deck, however.
Disney hasn’t shared any plans for this area, and we didn’t notice any work going on during our last visit to the restaurant — but we’ll keep an eye out!
Disney Springs
Salt & Straw
Construction walls have come down in front of Disney Springs’ newest ice cream shop, Salt & Straw! The location will open on April 20th and we can’t wait to try all of the exciting flavors.
This exciting eatery will bring fresh, organic, and delicious ice cream flavors to Disney World and we couldn’t be more thrilled to check it out.

Disney Resorts
Grand Floridian
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is being renovated to include brand new Disney Vacation Club Villas, and this week we got a good look at some scaffolding on the exterior of the Big Pine Key building.
Disney is transforming this building into 200 studio villas for DVC members.

Art of Animation
The lengthy exterior refurbishment at this popular value resort continues, and we saw quite a bit of work being done this week in various areas of the property. Machinery was spotted over in the Lion King area…
…and crews are also working on buildings in the Finding Nemo area.
Plus, the Righteous Reef Playground remains closed.
We’ll be looking for updates on the refurbishment progress over at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort.
Polynesian
In addition to the new villas coming to the Grand Flo, Disney’s Polynesian Resort will also be undergoing an expansion to include brand new villas! For now, areas of the resort have been walled off to guests.
The expansion is expected to be completed in late 2024!
