Earth Day has ARRIVED in Disney World, and what better place to celebrate nature (and Animal Kingdom‘s birthday) than Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge?! Disney celebrates holidays big and small, so we’re expecting some fun new treats, plus maybe a special photo op or some limited-edition merchandise — you never know what you might find in the parks and resorts during a holiday!
Today, we’re headed to The Mara in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge to try a FUN new treat! WALL-E fans, you’re gonna like this one.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is serving up a special new treat, but it’s only available on April 22nd, 2022. Over at The Mara, we ordered the Plant (Based) in Boot, which is a Chocolate Spice Cake with Coconut Ganache in a Chocolate Boot. As the name cleverly implies, this is a plant-based dessert! It costs $6.99.
And look how cute it is! It’s so well done and it looks just like the boot plant WALL-E finds, and we loved this dessert more than we thought we would!
Let’s just start out by saying that eating this treat is an EXPERIENCE. It’s kind of like a chocolate Easter bunny (except boot) filled with spice cake and you’re going to want to eat this with a more hands-on approach.
The boot is very chocolate-heavy and since it’s mostly hard chocolate, we actually broke our fork trying to grab a bite. We ended up picking up the boot to take a bite and can you can imagine what we might have looked like taking bites out of a boot?! We had to wait for the chocolate “glue” holding the boot to the plate to melt before we could pick it up.
The chocolate was delicious and our favorite part was the spice cake — and eating through the chocolate shell (er…boot) to get to the cake was so fun! We didn’t really taste the coconut ganache but we’re not mad about it — we thought the flavors we tasted were perfect.
We thought that this dessert was really unique, not just for a plant-based treat, and we’re hoping Disney considers making it a permanent plant-based treat! If you love adventurous eats, chocolate, or spice cake (or all three!), and whether you’re a vegan or not, you may want to try this! If you’re not a fan of chocolate or have sensitive teeth — you might want to skip this.
If you don’t mind eating a boot in public (even if it’s made of chocolate), you should consider trying this treat! Take a look at it in action in our video below.
Happy EARTH DAY Celebrate with this NEW treat!
