There’s a LOT going on in Disney World right now. The 50th Anniversary is still happening, and you can find treats and celebrations throughout the parks. EPCOT is going through a massive transformation with new restaurants, rides, and attractions all coming to the park. And part of that huge transformation is the opening of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind! This coaster is officially opening to guests on May 27th, 2022. But that’s not the only exciting thing happening on that day! 

If you head to Disney’s Animal Kingdom instead of EPCOT on May 27th, you can celebrate a totally different major event.

May 27th is the 5-year anniversary of the opening of Pandora — World of Avatar in Disney’s Animal Kingdom! This event has flown under the radar a bit since the opening of the Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster is so exciting as well. But now we’ve got a few more details about the anniversary, including some new merchandise that you’ll be able to find as part of the event.

In case you’re not familiar with Pandora already, this is the land in Animal Kingdom that’s home to huge floating rocks, gorgeous waterfalls and landscaping, and 2 very popular rides, all based on the movie Avatar (the one with blue people, not the animated one). Avatar: Flight of Passage is the hot-ticket ride in this park, and it features incredible Virtual Reality views of Pandora.

To celebrate the land’s 5-year anniversary, there are going to be a LOT of new souvenirs available in the park.

 We got to see a sneak peek at some today during a media event!

In the display of new items, we spotted some new apparel, including a shirt and jacket with views from Flight of Passage…

…a flat-billed hat that says “Pandora — World of Avatar” on the front…

…a t-shirt that says “Pandora” with a rainbow view of the floating rocks, and an explorer hat with the logo on it as well.

There will be a couple of backpacks available, including a Loungefly Mini-Backpack with scenes of Pandora…

…and a canvas backpack with buttons and patches that represent different attractions in the land.

Other new items include a Flight of Passage Mug…

…a pen with a case that says “Sivako!” (which means “Rise to the Challenge”)…

…a water bottle that’s covered in Wood Sprites…

…and a globe with a floating wood sprite inside.

Whether it’s sunny or rainy out, this colorful Pandora umbrella might come in handy.

We’ve saved some of the MOST exciting things for last. There’s a Na’vi ears headband with a flower crown…

…and a Pandora Candle! We’ve become pretty obsessed with Disney candles ever since they finally started releasing their own online and in the parks. There are many different scents available, and this Pandora one is meant to smell like the Na’vi River Journey attraction.

People in the merchandise department actually worked with Disney Imagineers to get the smell just right on this candle, and we have to hand it to them — they totally nailed it.
