Rides close temporarily all the time in Disney World, and sometimes guests have to get evacuated off the ride. It sounds scary, but it can actually be an interesting experience!
Evacuations can let you see a dark ride in a new light — that is, with all the lights on! It’s almost like an unexpected behind-the-scenes tour, though it might ruin the magic for some people. We’ve been evacuated from Splash Moutain not long ago, and we’ve also seen Space Mountain evacuated with lights on too, and now we have another look at this iconic EPCOT ride with lights on!
DFB reader Kayla (@heykaylamay) reached out to send us photos of her experience being evacuated from Spaceship Earth yesterday in EPCOT! It looks quite different with the lights on, doesn’t it?
Not long ago a reader sent us photos of their experience being evacuated off Spaceship Earth, and now we have another look at a different area of the ride with all the lights on. During evacuations like this, the lights are turned on so that Cast Members can help escort guests off the ride.
It looks like this is the part of the ride during which guests are heading backwards toward the ride exit, and it’s interesting to see that flight of stairs next to the ride vehicles.
This part of the ride is usually quite dark, so it’s not easy to make out all the details on the ceiling and walls.
Did you have any idea that this is what Spaceship Earth looks like with the lights on?
Thank the Phoenicians and DFB reader Kayla for this inside look at Spaceship Earth, and stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World news!
Here’s a video of another part of Spaceship Earth with the lights on!
